Galante Design Studio Presents University Night, Nov. 7, 7PM-9PM, Harvard Square

CAMBRIDGE - Galante Design Studio is announcing University Night, a gallery event for design students across greater Boston. The event will take place November 7th from 7pm-9pm at its Atlas Obscured pop-up gallery in the heart of Harvard Square, 31 Brattle Street, Cambridge, MA. Join us for light refreshments and a word from Creative Director Theodore Galante at 7:45PM.

The evening of open conversation will begin with Ted sharing insight as a maker, from metallurgy and woodworking craftsmanship through his architectural training and the influences that transition his drafting pen to the hand-built craft of making – where time, form, and materials are the inspirations that push the boundaries of what design can achieve when merging historical insight with contemporary aesthetics.

In-between conversations, guests may peruse the collection of one-of-a-kind chairs on display that capture a city's evolution through four layers of precisely drawn and laser-cut maps. When one sits on an Atlas Obscured chair, they occupy hundreds of years of each city’s history that embody the craft of placemaking; designed with the intention of strengthening human connections and the places we share. Cities on exhibit include Boston, New York City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco as well as London, Paris, Hong Kong, Dubai, Tokyo, and more.

We welcome all design schools with an interest in exposing students to one designer’s journey to pursue excellence in his role as a maker and craftsperson in the design world. With new collections in the works, Galante Design Studio continues to create objects with stories that challenge the boundaries of perceptual expectations; mining form and cultural insights to evoke wider consideration of the world around us.
