We recommend polishing no more than once a month, as over-polishing can damage the finish. Use a soft, lint-free, absorbent cloth, working with the grain of the wood. A high-quality furniture polish is ideal.
When using a polish product for the first time on previously polished furniture, it may be necessary to remove old wax and polish. This can be easily and safely achieved with a quality wood cleaning product. Failing to clean the furniture before polishing can result in unsatisfactory results, as the polish may loosen old wax layers, leading to a cloudy finish.
For polishing the steel bars on the wood chair, we recommend a neutral, high-quality wax specified for steel and a microfiber cloth, ensuring to protect adjacent wood surfaces during application.
Wood Care Products Summary:
-
Furniture Polish: A unique blend of natural and organic oils with cleaning emulsifiers, free from wax, silicone, or petroleum distillates. Must be safe; non-toxic and non-flammable.
-
Wood Cleaner: Effectively removes old wax, built-up polish, and various stains or discolorations.
-
Dusting Cloth: Specially treated to attract and trap dust in its microfibers.
Things to Avoid:
-
Avoid placing plastic or rubber objects on wood finishes, as their components can react with the finish, potentially causing damage.
-
Do not use wax polishes directly on wood. Regular use of wax can lead to a buildup of residue that traps dirt, smoke, and pollutants. Over time, this buildup can cause smudges, streaks, and soften the finish, which may require expensive refinishing.
-
Avoid silicone-based polishes. Silicone oils, often used to enhance shine, can seep into lacquered finishes, making it difficult to remove. If refinishing becomes necessary, the presence of silicone can complicate the process.
Stainless Steel Products
Stainless steel is both food-safe and dishwasher-safe. However, we recommend hand cleaning with a mild detergent and a soft cloth or sponge when necessary. Avoid using steel wool, abrasive pads, or harsh cleaners that may damage the surface. After cleaning, rinse with clean water and dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spots and stains.
